WWE superstar Daniel Bryan announces retirement after suffering a concussion

"Maybe My Brain Wasn't As OK As I Thought It Was": Daniel Bryan Explains Concussions-Driven Retirement On WWE

WWE superstar Daniel Bryan has announced his retirement from wrestling with immediate effect aged 34.

The former heavyweight champion of the world hasn't competed since suffering a concussion in April last year.

He has had neck problems during his career, coming back after surgery at the start of 2015 before suffering another injury after only a few months back in the ring.

WWE doctors have reportedly refused to clear him to compete despite medics from outside the organisation declaring him fit to compete.

Bryan has been a professional wrestler since 1999, acquiring a huge following all over the world.

He is synonymous with his signature 'YES!' chant - which has crossed over into numerous other sports, including the fans of NHL side New York Islanders adopting it as their goal celebration.

Bryan confirmed he would elaborate on his decision to retire on Monday evening's episode of Raw.
