Peter Munya links his woes to devolution

Council of Governors Chairman Peter Munya says he is being fought by powerful people in Government who are opposed to devolution.

Mr Munya, who spoke a day after publicly disagreeing with Deputy President William Ruto and Meru Senator Kiraitu Murungi, said he was being fought because of his steadfast position of seeing devolution take root in the country.

At the same time, Munya accused a section of Meru leaders of hiring goons to heckle him during the function presided over by Mr Ruto in Nkubu on Saturday.

The Meru governor said the Saturday meeting was well-choreographed to embarrass and intimidate him.

Speaking at the Jesus Reigns Church in Maua, Munya said he had been given a chance by governors to ensure devolution is entrenched and ensure the people have access to resources.
