Kilimani Police station to be refurbished

Nairobi, Kenya: The Chinese embassy has partnered with the Kenya Police Service to modernise Kilimani Police Station.

Speaking Tuesday during the signing of the agreement, Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet said the makeover is a multi-million-shilling project, which will take a maximum of three years to complete.

"I thank the Embassy of the Republic of China for choosing to transform Kilimani Station," said Mr Boinnet, adding that the works will start soonest.

The makeover targets the office, residential quarters and the parking yard.

"Our resources are limited and overstretched. I am actually appealing to other similar entities to come on board and partner with the police service in the construction of better police houses, because alone we cannot move at the speed that we are expected," he added.

Chinese ambassador to Kenya Liu Xianfa said once the project is complete, the station will have better housing for the officers and put the officers in a position to better discharge their duties. He said the Embassy will not hesitate to undertake other similar projects.
