Nzoia Sugar Company in Bungoma County will now be paying all its contracted farmers through their bank accounts beginning next month.

Previously farmers were paid through a notice slip to the bank and often farmers had to take away all their money as though they were paid in cash.

Speaking at his office yesterday, Nzoia Sugar Managing Director Godfrey Wanyonyi said that in the past, the company had been instructing banks to pay farmers who do not have bank accounts through a 'pay advice slip' which was not as secure.
