240 officers attached to Directorate of Criminal Investigations moved in mass transfer

Kenya: More than 200 junior officers attached to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have been moved in mass transfers.

Most of the 240 officers affected were moved over indiscipline issues while others had overstayed in their stations, officials said.

The transfers affecting officers of the ranks of sergeant, corporal and constable were announced by DCI Ndegwa Muhoro, who ordered them to report to their new stations by January 19.

An official aware of the changes said the move comes after several requests and complaints against some of the affected officers.

The DCI stations affected include the headquarters, Parliament, Banking Fraud Investigations Unit, Judicial Service Commission and various divisions across the country.

Some of the officers were moved to Garissa, Mandera and Wajir, where many regard as disciplinary places for police.
