President Uhuru Kenyatta heads to Western Kenya and North Rift

President Uhuru Kenyatta will on Saturday begin his three-day trip to Western Kenya and the North Rift.

The trip will take him to opposition zones like Kisumu, Kakamega and Bungoma. It will also take him to the political backyard of his deputy William Ruto in Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet and West Pokot.

Top on his agenda in the visit to Bungoma will be to issue Kibabii College with a charter that will make it a fully fledged university.

The President's schedule will include commissioning of development projects in Bumula and Sirisia constituencies.

In Sirisia, the Head of State will commission the multi-million-shilling Chesikaki-Kimama Water Supply Project.

He will later also open an Immigration office at Lwakhakha border point, which is aimed at easing free movement of people and goods between Kenya and Uganda.

"The opening of the border post emphasises Kenya's commitment to free movement of goods, services and people throughout East African.

Equally, the grant of a charter to Kibabii University will ensure Bungoma gets a university," a statement from State House read.
