One person died Sunday morning following a grisly road accident involving a trailer and a saloon car on the Eastern Bypass near the General Service Unit (GSU) training school in Nairobi.
Nairobi Traffic Commandant Edward Mwamburi said the incident happened early morning on Sunday when the trailer coming from Ruiru towards Embakasi collided head-on with the saloon car heading in the opposite direction.
Police said the saloon car belonged to a taxi driver who was on an early morning job when the accident occurred.
Head-on collision
"We have already impounded the truck and it is at Embakasi police station. We established the driver tried to overtake before colliding head-on with the saloon car," said Mr Mwamburi.
The body of the taxi driver was taken to the City Mortuary as investigations into the matter commenced.
The accident comes shortly after a popular television actor Kanana Gichuru was involved in a grisly accident on the Eastern Bypass.
The woman was allegedly overtaking another vehicle on a climbing lane when she collided head-on with a trailer.
Embakasi Police Inspector Joseph Mutuku advised motorists to be careful to prevent road carnage.
