Kenya Defence Forces rescues teacher abducted from Dadaab

Kenya: Kenya Defence Forces (KDF), Rapid Deployment Unit and Somalia National Troops have rescued a teacher who was abducted by Al Shabaab on Monday at Hagadera refugee camp in Dadaab, Garissa County.

One abductor was killed and another arrested during the joint operation.

Ms Judy Mutua was rescued at Shaba-Difu, 15km into Somalia.

“Ms Mutua is currently receiving treatment at a secured location and will be airlifted by the Kenya Air Force to Nairobi in the course of the day”, Colonel D O Obonyo said in a press statement sent to newsrooms on Friday.

The teacher was working with Windle Trust. She was snatched from Hagadera refugee camp by armed men who had concealed their faces.
