More changes rock Kenya's National Police Service

More than 40 senior police officers were moved in changes aimed at enhancing operations.

The new deputy director of CID is Joseph Ashmala who has been a deputy to outgoing Deputy Inspector of police Grace Kaindi. The new deputy to the DIG is director of reforms Kingori Mwangi.

The new traffic commandant will be Jecinta Kinyua who was the director of personnel at CID headquarters. The changes announced by Inspector General of police Joseph Boinnet saw former GSU commandant William Saiya named the commandant Kiganjo police college, outgoing Nairobi police boss Benson Kibui appointed director of operations at Vigilance House to replace Philip Ndolo who goes to the Airports as the KAPU commandant.

Kiganjo deputy commandant Gabow Noor was named the head of transport at police headquarters while most of those replaced like deputy director of CID Gideon Kimilu have been moved to the ministry of interior for redeployment. Airports boss Joseph ole Tito has been moved to the Anti stock theft unit.

Stephen Chelimo is now the new GSU commandant,Gideon Kibunja the director of planning police) and Mercus Ochola director Internal Affairs Unit. Judy Jebet is now Commandant CID training whereas Leo Nyongesa is the Community policing boss.

Mary Kaol is in charge of personnel CID, Mirium Muli inspection boss, Stanley Lemai personnel police boss, Rogers Mbithi is the director Airwing whereas Owino Ochieng is the new director reforms. Solomon Makau is now in charge of the Standard Gauge Railway.

The changes were reached at during a meeting by the National Police Service Commission on Friday. They come days after Kaindi was removed from office.
