A hearse belonging to the Sonko Rescue Team associated with Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko cannot leave Kisii County.
The vehicle was grounded under unclear circumstances while transporting a corpse to Kisii County.
The flamboyant Senator told The Nairobian that some people attempted to tarnish his name by grounding the hearse to weaken him.
“It’s true that one of the hearses transporting a body to Kisii was damaged last week, we realised that someone poured salt in its engine while collecting the body. It remains unclear how the enemy of development managed to do that,” said Sonko.
Sonko added: “It is sad that some ill motivated people are trying to ground us. But at the moment we have several hearses on standby even if they try to ground those on the road.”
Besides grounding his hearse the Sonko Rescue Team’s Facebook page has been flooded with porn images and women posting nude photos hunting for men.
The Facebook page which has over 60,000 followers attracts hundreds of obscene materials.
Sonko who remains unbowed said: “Some suspects have been arrested over the obscene photos and have been charged.
The Sonko Rescue Team has a fleet of fire trucks, ambulances, hearses, armed security and wedding cars.
