Duale must give terror list or be censured, says Nyando MP

A CORD MP has said legislators will mount pressure on National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale to provide a list of terror suspects, financiers and sympathisers.

Nyando MP Fred Outa asked Mr Duale to brace for an onslaught on the floor of the House if he does not produce the list for action.

Duale must produce the list of al Shabaab and their sympathisers. We cannot allow him to shift goal posts. I am telling him not to play politics with matters of security. He cannot say he does not owe an apology to anybody and he will go without being censured," Mr Outa said.

He was accompanied by Mumias East MP Benjamin Washiali when he spoke in Mombasa yesterday.

He was speaking on the sidelines of the ongoing retreat by members of the Parliamentary Departmental Committee on Agriculture discussing about the sector policy at the Sarova Whitesands Beach Resort.

protect Kenyans

The three-day retreat was attended by acting Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Adan Mohamed. Mr Mohamed is also CS for Industrialisation and Enterprise Development.

He said MPs will take action against Mr Duale so as to "protect Kenyans". He also asked the State to demand the names from the majority leader.

"We have Kenyans at heart and we must know the truth from Mr Duale. Was he lying to Kenyans. Does he have Kenyans' interest at heart?" posed Mr Outa.

Duale who is Garissa town MP has been under pressure following his pledge that he would name terror suspects following the attack on Garissa University College.

He had led North Eastern leaders in making the pledge after the attack but he has not come up with the much-awaited list.

Interior CS Joseph Nkaissery recently said he was still waiting for the list from Duale so as to take action.
