Future husbands, here are 5 romantic ways to propose to a Kenyan woman

News

Air balloon

Kenyan men are really green when it comes to popping the question. Thanks to their lack of creativity, most Kenyan women’s engagement stories are quite a bore.

Sharon Mundia’s engagement story has set our expectations pretty high. The clichéd candle-lit romantic dinner with the waiter delivering the ring with the entrées just isn’t going to cut it anymore.

We expect a little bit more extravagance, romance and originality.

Everything should be meticulously planned down to the last detail. I don’t want any awkward ‘uuhhmm and eeerrmm, when people ask me how my man proposed, so I have compiled a list of a few imaginative and awe-inspiring ways to propose that will knock any woman’s socks off.

I hope my future husband is reading this.

Dear future husband, unless you want a resounding ‘no’ after popping the question, it is imperative that you pick one of the following ways to propose to me. Don’t forget the gigantic diamond. No compromise. Thanks.

1. Rent out a giant billboard right in the middle of the highway with a picture of us together and the message, ‘Roxanne, will you marry me?’ for the entire world to see. After that, invite me for a drive and stop at the perfect spot for us to gaze at the billboard. How would I say no? I am getting giddy with excitement just imagining this.

2. How about taking the marriage proposal to new heights; literally! Organise a romantic hot air balloon ride at sunset, flying over breathtaking scenery. A few minutes into the ride, get down on one knee and pop the question.

3. Film a romantic clip of you asking me to be your wife and then arrange it to have it as one of the commercials to be played at the cinema before the movie begins. Invite me out to the movies and then sit back and relax as you watch my reaction as your proposal is projected onto the giant screen.

4. Purchase a full page ad in a newspaper that you know I read daily. Incorporate a good picture of us and a lengthy, heartfelt message of why you think I am the perfect match for you.
