Cardinal Otunga High Mosocho closed indefinitely

KISII, KENYA: Three dormitories were on Tuesday night and Wednesday afternoon burnt down at Cardinal Otunga Mosocho, a day after the students reported from April holidays.
The school Principal Zachary Nyariki said the school had been closed indefinitely after the fire incident.
Those students who had not received the sad news and were reporting back to school were also turned away on Thursday morning.
"We suspect arson but again we will allow police officers to carry out independent investigations and establish the cause of the fire. We are also coordinating with the Ministry of education officials to come up with a comprehensive solution on the fate of the affected students," said Nyariki.
The catholic sponsored school has a population of over 1100 students. Over 250 students were affected in the inferno.
Two dormitories were burnt down on the opening day on Tuesday evening at around 5pm as students had gathered at the assembly to listen to the Principal's announcements. The third dormitory burnt down on Wednesday afternoon immediately as administration police officers guarding the scene of the previous incident had left for lunch.
Another dormitory was also burnt down mid last year and until today no conclusive investigation has been done.
Kisii central Division Criminal Investigation Officer, Paul Wambugu and Marani OCPD Benjamin Kimwale visited the school and promised to carry out thorough investigation.
