TUSKER BREWED AS CITY STARS DAZZLED: Bandari, Gor and AFC win as Tusker bottled by Bandari, Mathare lose

Gor Mahia hammered City Stars 3-0 in a Kenyan Premier League (KPL) match at City Stadium while AFC Leopards raided KCB in a 3-1 win at the Nyayo National Stadium, last evening.

At Ruaraka Stadium, visitors Bandari brewed the hosts Tusker 1-0 while at Nyayo Stadium, in a match played at 2pm Ushuru forced Mathare United to pay taxes as the taxmen registered a 2-1 win.

Sofapaka, Western Stima and Thika United were the other winners of the day with ‘Batoto ba Mungu’ finding sweetness in Machakos with a 1-0 over Chemelil Sugar while Stima switched off power at Awendo Stadium as they hit SoNy 1-0. Thika United were 2-1 winners over Nakuru All Stars.

At City Stadium, goals by Ali Abondo, Michael Olunga and Innocent Wafula were enough to hand City Stars their sixth defeat of the season. Gor enjoyed huge dominance in the opening minutes of the match allowing Abondo to score the opener after just six minutes.

Olunga had to wait until injury time to score the second.

The lanky striker made a long run from the right flank which ended by putting the ball past ‎Ronnie Kagunzi.

The third came in the 70th minute at a time when City Stars attempted a come-back and were caught on the counter-attack.

At Nyayo Stadium, in-form Jacob Keli returned to haunt KCB scoring a brace and inspire ten-man AFC Leopards to a 3-1 victory.

Centre referee Amos Ichingwa awarded AFC a penalty in the 35th minute after Dennis Dodi was adjudged to have been fouled in the box, but KCB goalkeeper Zachary Onyango saved Emmanuel Ngama’s strike.

However, Jacob Keli capitalised on his former employer’s defensive blunder to break the deadlock with a close range finish.

At Ruaraka Stadium, Bandari shocked Tusker 1-0 with George Abege scoring the only goal in the 57th minute.

It was a by a similar margin that Sofapaka beat Chemelil in Machakos with Enock Agwanda scoring the only goal.

Earlier at Nyayo Stadium, Noah Abich put Mathare ahead from the spot on the stroke of halftime after Eric Mata was brought down in the box, but Allan Kateregga cancelled out the opener in the 53rd minute before Obadiah Ndege converted his penalty late in the game to earn the taxmen the maximum points.

Earlier on at the same venue, Mathare United signed a three year deal worth Sh 75M with British American Investment Company.

As part of the deal, which will see the Slum boys receive Sh 25M per year, Britam will also cater for the playing unit’s allowances and other incentives with their target for the club being top five finish.
