Chelsea to move for Man United target Gareth Bale

Chelsea could offer Real Madrid £75million for Gareth Bale - despite the Welshman saying that he wants to stay another season with the Spanish giants.

The Daily Mail report that Roman Abramovich is set to authorise the release-clause-matching bid for Bale this summer, with Madrid said to be ready to allow their man to leave.

But that is despite Bale telling his team-mates that he wants to stay at his current club for at least another year, despite his torrid time of late.

Madrid are believed to be happy to let Bale leave, providing that they keep hold of Cristiano Ronaldo and rebuild their team around him.

That news would be a blow to Manchester United in their pursuit of their former Portuguese hero, who they would love to see return to Old Trafford.

United are now expected to gun for other targets, such as Mats Hummels, Paul Pogba and Dani Alves.

Manchester City are also said to be interested in Bale's signature, for Financial Fair Play rules mean that Chelsea will be in pole position to secure him.

If Bale leaves, Marco Reus is reportedly one of the men that Madrid would like to replace him.

Bale scored twice for Wales on Saturday night during the 3-0 win in Israel.
