Africa’s trusted name in comedy Daniel Ndambuki aka Churchill says the Sh72 million deal he sealed with UAP Insurance on Monday is a unique one, and “probably, the first of its kind”.
“Insurance companies are not used to insuring entertainment events and if so not with amounts of this magnitude. With this deal, they have demystified insurance, showing that entertainers too deserve to be covered,” Churchill told Pulse.
The star landed comprehensive event insurance worth a cool Sh72 million for his Churchill Live TV show and Churchill on the Road.
“This landmark sponsorship deal will cover all public liability arising out of bodily injury and or property damage, sunk costs for event cancellations, as well as an image protector to cater for immediate costs necessarily incurred to assist persons injured in Churchill’s events for the next one year,” read a communication from the insurer.
“Churchill is a big and trusted brand and I thank UAP for the move,” Churchill told Pulse. “But people should know that this is not money in my account. It is insurance pledge for a deal that is meant to last six months. Please, stop calling to congratulate me for having millions. It is sponsorship pledge, not hard cash.”
