Media Council of Kenya standardises journalists' training

The Media Council of Kenya (MCK) has prepared a standardised curriculum to be used for training journalists in the country.

Speaking Monday at a Kakamega hotel during an open session dubbed 'Media Literacy Forum', MCK Deputy Chief Executive Officer Victor Bwire attributed poor quality of journalists in the country to substandard training offered by most media training colleges.

"All institutions offering journalism courses will be required to use the curriculum for all diploma and certificate trainings in journalism that will shortly be launched. All colleges will be required to use the curriculum and the examinations will be handled in collaboration with the Kenya National Examination Council," he said.
