Lawyer Ahmednassir Abdullahi fights Sh50m bribery claims

Lawyer Ahmednassir Abdullahi has accused a real estate development company director of maligning his character in a Sh1 billion land case in which he is representing one of the parties.

The lawyer told the Court of Appeal that it had been alleged in both the media and a letter to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission that he was plotting to influence two of three judges hearing the case surrounding the land that belonged to Telkom retirees.

Ahmednassir, in the case in which he is representing Aftraco, a company claiming a stake in the 60 acres, told the three-judge bench composed of justices John Mwera, Agnes Murgor and Robert Ouko it had been alleged that his client, through him, was planning to dish out Sh50 million to influence the outcome of the case in his favour.

He said he suspected it was the appellant's (Exclusive Estates Limited) director, Francis Mburu's move to drag his name through the mud.

He wants Mr Mburu to appear before the court or appear before the Criminal Investigation Department to record statements regarding the claims.

The company, through lawyer Allen Gichuhi, told the court it was unaware of the letters or the publication.
