Maasai told to shun clan politics

Leaders from the Maasai community have been asked to shun inter-clan politics that undermine development.

Narok Deputy Governor Evelyn Aruasa told the leaders to preach unity instead of dividing the county along clans.

Speaking yesterday at Mara Rianda, in Narok West Constituency during the homecoming for Mara Ward MCA Joseph Ketuyo, she noted that clan politics had derailed development.

Ms Aruasa also urged the community to enroll their children in school and shun retrogressive practices like female genital mutilation and early marriages.

She said the county government will help boda boda operators form a cooperative sacco.
