Hospital cleaner plays the piano to help patients and families forget about their pain

Illinois: A hospital janitor has swapped his tea breaks for playing the piano to help anxious patients and visitors unwind.

Rolando Maaba loves nothing more than filling the lobby of the Illinois hospital where he works with cheery tunes to help people forget about their worries.

For about 15 minutes a day, the 55-year-old downs his caretaker tools and to entertains visitors with songs he knows by ear.

He told ABC News: "The bottom line is I want to be helping guests who are waiting  for their relatives after an emergency or a surgery and they're worried.

"When I play, they forget all their worries."

He admits he also enjoys the praise and attention his piano playing brings, and has even resorted to sharing his talent with diners at a local restaurant once a week too.
