Inspector General of Police David Kimaiyo urges Administration and Regular Police to work in harmony

Inspector General of Police David Kimaiyo has ordered all police officers, both Administration Police and Regular Police, to work together.

He told police commanders across the service to work in harmony and also cultivate strong comradeship amongst the officers under their respective commands.

“I also want to urge all officers and especially all commanders across the service to work in harmony amongst each other and also cultivate strong comradeship amongst the officers under their respective commands,” said Kimaiyo.

He added there is no bad blood between the police units.

The police boss appeared to react to the weekend incident in which a group of APs stormed Kisumu Central Police Station to protest the killing of their colleague who had been linked to a robbery incident.

Kimaiyo admitted there have been incidents where officers have been implicated in elements of impropriety.

“These incidents have been dealt with in accordance to service regulations and as well as existing laws.  There are also instances where a few officers have been found involving themselves in criminal acts”, Kimaiyo said.

He warned officers who engage themselves in any unlawful acts that they will be subjected to the law.

Kimaiyo promised to have errant officers investigated, adding that such cases should be treated as individuals.
