KDF and spokemans twitter accounts hacked, used to send abusive information

Kenya: Kenya defence forces and spokesman’s twitter accounts have been hacked by group Anonymous. The group also hacked a government agent website.

The official twitter account of KDF Spokesman Major Emmanuel Chirchir was hacked and used to send abusive information on Sunday night and Monday morning.

Major Chirchir is urging the public to ignore any postings on the timelines of the two accounts because they are posted by imposters.

“We are working hard to address the issue. Let the public be patient as experts work on it,” said Chirchir.

The hackers also defaced a website of an agency of the ministry of environment.

The fact that KDF is involved in war in Somalia complicates matters because the hackers can use the account to send misleading information.

KDF went to Somalia in 2011 to hunt down Alshabaab militants who have been blamed for several insecurity incidents in the country.
