Maseno university closed indefinitely after two students die in riots

Maseno University closed indefinitely following riots that erupted due to elections on Monday

Two Maseno university students died and others injured during a confrontation with police in Kisumu.

Wrangles developed after two factions campaigning for the students elections started fighting. The elections are scheduled to take place in October 15, 2015.

This comes just days after the institutions administration block was burnt down in an arsonist attack which police believe was orchestrated by the students.

The administration had barred some students from contesting in the election and this is believed to have spurred the violence.

Police are currently at the scene.
