Four testify in Subukia 'cannibal' case

More witnesses testified at the Nakuru High Court in a case in a which a farm hand in Subukia Nakuru County is accused of killing his neighbour and eating his flesh.

The four witnesses called by the prosecution to testify against the suspect, Amos Kimeria, painted gory pictures of the scene where the body was found dumped.

Isaack Lodoket, a brother of the deceased, said his brother had gone missing for a day but he had not bothered to inquire about his whereabouts because it was not unusual for him not to return home after drinking sprees.

Loloket testified before Judge Anyara Emukule that on the night of June 26, 2012, he heard screams from his neighbour's farm and rushed there only to come face to face with his brother's mutilated body.

"On reaching the farm where the accused, Amos Kimeria Gichuhi, used to work as a shamba boy, I saw a badly mutilated body and immediately identified it as my brother's," recounted Lodoket, with tears streaming down his cheeks.

He said villagers later went to suspect's house where they found human flesh including a liver and private parts in a sufuria and also recovered a polythene bag containing the slain man's intestines from a goat shed.

"The flesh was inside a sufuria," Lodoket testified.

Arachi Area local chief John Githinji said the scene where the deceased's body was found had blood stains and other marks suggesting that there may have been a struggle before he was killed.

The local chief said bottles of alcohol, maize flour and torch were also found at the farm belonging to Dr Karanja Kamotho where Kimeria was working as a lobourer.

Two other brothers of the deceased, Joseph Adome and Simon Itinga, said they were also horrified when they saw their brother's disfigured body at the mortuary.

Kimeria is facing charges of killing a neighbour with a machete and eating his heart, liver, private parts and intestines before carelessly dumping the body.
