Thugs shoot dead Kenya journalist Tony Kago

Former Nation Media Group journalist Anthony Kago was shot dead Sunday night by armed gunmen outside his House in Ongata Rongai, on the outskirts of Nairobi.

Mr Kago who was working with a public relations firm met his death after he was ambushed by gunmen as he approached his gate driving his car a Toyota Harrier.

Family sources said Kagohad called the wife to open for him the door before thet attackers pounced and approached his car window and shot him on the shoulder. He later died as he was being rushed to  hospital in Rongai neighbourhood.

Police said he arrived at his his gate and found the gun men waiting before a shootout ensued. His watchman tried to come to his rescue but he was also stabbed on the chest by the attackers and is in hospital undergoing treatment.

Ongata Rongai OCPD Francis Sang’ Confirmed the incident adding that the thugs robbed him of his wallet and  phones.

He was later rushed to a Nairobi Women's hospital before he was pronounced dead as medic tried to resuscitate his life.

“He was shot at point blank range on the shoulder and died while undergoing treatment at Nairobi Women's hospital in Ronga ,” said Mr Sang’.

Kago is remembered as a court journalist during his hey days before he quit to join public relations practice.
