Former Nairobi city Mayor George Aladwa wants Makadara MP election quashed

NAIROBI; KENYA: Former Nairobi city Mayor George Aladwa has tore into the conduct of Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) during the Makadara parliamentary election on March 4.

In his final submission, Aladwa pointed out that IEBC Returning Officer Florence Kwamboka admitted under oath to having three sets of final results.

Through his lawyer Cecil Miller, Aladwa said Kwamboka gave the current MP Benson Kang’ara results indicating he had won by 1,784 and the form she had showed he had won by 1,565.

Four wards

Miller further said his client was given different results, which questions the credibility of outcome of the polls.

“An election with three sets of results must be declared a sham,” said the former civic leader.

Aladwa also submitted that he won in three out of four wards.

“In the 23 polling centres, the petitioner won in 12 centres,” said Miller. Aladwa further alleged that alterations in Form 35 were done at the tallying centre by Returning Officer in absence of party agents.

Justice Richard Mwongo said the judgement will be given on notice.
