Kenya’s Jason Dunford qualified for the semifinals of the 100m butterfly at the London Olympics after clocking 52.23 in his heat on Thursday.

Jason, who emerged fourth in his heat, will meet world and Olympic champion Michael Phelps and South African Chad Le Clos in the semis.

Earlier Dunford’s brother David failed to qualify for the semifinals of the 50m after clocking 22.72 seconds in Heat 5.

David finished third in his swimming heat but failed to hit the qualifying mark following faster times returned other swimmers.

The cutoff point to the semi finals is 22.27 seconds.

David’s defeat is the second this week after he failed to qualify on Tuesday in the 100m freestyle where he emerged third in his heat.
