The Government will licence and regulate drugs and substance abuse rehabilitation centres effective this financial year.

National Agency for Campaign Against Drug Abuse ( Nacada) said also in the pipeline is the crucial process of certifying professionals who deal with addicts. Nacada national coordinator William Okedi said this would ensure delivery of quality services to all clients.

Dr Okedi made the remarks during the official groundbreaking ceremony of a Sh6.5 million Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Unit at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret.

“I am confident that the national standards and code of ethics will guide this profession and its clients,” he remarked.
