Bungling cop shows judge how grenade works by pulling pin out in court injuring five people

The judge probably didn't have this in mind

Five people were injured after a bungling policeman pulled the pin out of a live grenade in a court room.

The judge in Karachi’s Anti-Terrorism Court asked the constable if he knew how the explosive device worked.

Instead of explaining the technical details of the grenade, the clumsy cop decided to pull out the pin.

In the resulting explosion five people, including the judge, two policemen and a court clerk, were injured and taken to hospital.

The ill-judged demonstration took place during the live hearing of a case.

Court proceedings were briefly suspended, reports Daily Pakistan.

The grenade was reportedly a locally developed bomb brought to the courtroom as evidence.

Apparently it was not defused before becoming an exhibit.

Police swarmed into the area after the explosion amid fears of a terrorist attack, while security forces were put on high alert.

The constable responsible is said to face severe punishment after he recovers.
