Groom killed in Ohio horror crash just after tying the knot

A groom died in a horror crash on his wedding day - just hours after tying the knot.

Andrew Bloomfield, 27, and new bride Ruth Driskill, 37, were being driven to their reception when the horror smash occurred.

Andrew's friend Elizabeth Shelton, 26, was killed in the smash, in Wyandot County, northern Ohio, while Andrew died later in hospital.

Ruth and driver Timothy Tebbe were left critically injured.

Police said the truck veered off the road before crashing just before 4pm the Bucyrus Telegraph-Forum reported on Tuesday.

The four passengers were returning to the wedding reception at a private barn after visiting Tebbe's house, it has been reported.

The pickup truck hit an embankment and a pole and rolled several times after it had veered off the road, the sheriff's office said.

Officers said they do not believe anyone in the vehicle was wearing a seat belt.

In his final Facebook post Andrew said he was "ready to start a new chapter," WBNS news channel reports.

"I never thought I would find that person to settle down with but I guess I just got lucky. Soon I will be a married man," he reportedly added.
