Police in Kakamega are holding seven women after they were found in possession of pornographic materials at a rental house in Lurambi.

Sleuths from the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) waylaid the suspects, including a Ugandan citizen, on Saturday and recovered alleged pornographic materials and electronic devices from the apartment around 7pm.

According to Kakamega County Police Commander Joseph Kigen, the women were arrested in possession of laptops, desktops, sex toys and cameras perceived to be used in shooting pornographic content. “Our officers were able to arrest the suspects and they are currently in our custody pending further investigations,” said Kigen.

The county police boss said they have forwarded the devices recovered for forensic analysis to establish whether the materials were being used for shooting pornographic content.

“We are waiting for results from our laboratory on the analysis of the devices our police impounded so that we can continue with our investigations to establish the motive behind the incident and its extent,” said Kigen.

However, Kigen dismissed claims that the seven were students from local colleges as earlier alleged by residents. “Institutions have sent representatives here to identify the suspects and it turned out that they are not students,” he said.

Police are investigating claims that the suspects could be part of a syndicate selling pornographic content to dating and pornographic sites abroad.
