Top coach Koskei dies

The athletics fraternity was hit by another misfortune following the death of a top coach and berievement of two runners.

David Koskei of Kiptenden Athletics Club in Konoin died on Saturday and will be buried on Friday.

The same day top 800m/1,500m runner Justus Koech’s mother Cecilia Musonik died in a road accident in Narok. Koech’s elder brother Nicholas Koech, was also a reputable middle distance runner.

Koskei was an assistant national coach during the 2007 World Championships in Osaka, Japan.

A former international athlete David Lelei died in a road accident in Nakuru early this year when in the same car with Moses Tanui, who won world 10,000m title in 1991 in Tokyo.

Athletics Kenya Chairman Isaiah Kiplagat, Secretary David Okeyo and Public Relations Officer Peter Angwenyi sent their condolences to the bereaved families, friends and relatives.
