Keep off law review, Moi now tells America

By Beatrice Obwocha

Former President Moi has accused the US of interfering with constitution making.

Citing the recent visit by US Vice-President Joe Biden, Moi wondered why the US is pushing for reforms through a ‘faulty’ Proposed Constitution. He said the US constitution does not allow abortion, adding foreigners should not impose on Kenyans what is not right.

"They are forcing everything bad on us. Why can’t they change theirs," he posed. Addressing a rally at Kabarnet High School, Moi said Kenyans should not allow foreigners to decide for them what is good or bad.

He said some leaders were blinded by goodies from foreigners and thus failed to look at the broader picture.

"Some leaders cannot see that this draft is not good for Kenyans. If it’s bad, it’s bad," he said.

The former Head of State said he is against the abortion and land clauses as well as the proposal to allow the army to picket.

Present during the rally was former Subukia MP Koigi Wamwere.
