KNHRC Wrangles Deepen

The wrangles dogging the Kenya national human rights and equality commission have taken a new twist, with Justice Minister Mutula Kilonzo imposing a gag order, barring the two sides from fighting in the media. The move effectively prevents the group of commissioners keen on deposing chairperson Florence Jaoko from the commissions helm, from making public the grounds for their vote of no confidence against her. Civil society groups have also joined the fray, demanding a full disclosure from the commission on exactly what is going on within its ranks.
