More trouble in Sonko's house as three aides are shown exit

Nairobi County governor Mike Mbuvi aka Sonko on January 23 published a notice on the daily papers notifying the public that personal assistant Bernard Kiio Mulwa, deputy head delivery unit Joseph Ireri Kamunde (alias Joe) and Michael Mutua are no longer working with his office.

According to the notice that bears the names, ID numbers, and photographs of the aides, the three were fired for allegedly soliciting bribes from County Government contractors and suppliers under the pretense that they can influence the speedy processing of their payments.

They were also accused of soliciting bribes from unemployed youths, promising them employment as security constables and firefighters.

“Nairobi wishes to state that soliciting and receiving bribes is a criminal offense hence any person masquerading as a Nairobi county employee or associating the county government with such criminal acts should be apprehended and prosecuted in a court of law,” read a part of the notice.

Igathe’s position is still open as the government decides which way to find a replacement.
