NASA reveals tentative schedule for Raila swearing-in fete

According to an article published on page 6 of The Standard on 19 January, One million people are expected to attend National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga’s swearing-in fete.

Opposition leaders say Raila will be sworn in as ‘The People’s President’ on January 30th as they finalise plans for the ceremony to be held at Uhuru Park, Nairobi.

The article says Raila will be sworn in together with running mate and Wiper Democratic Movement leader Kalonzo Musyoka, with the other NASA leaders including Amani National Congress Leader(ANC) Musalia Mudavadi and Ford Kenya’s Moses Wetang’ula working tirelessly – planning for the event.

It goes on to explain the schedule for the big day, saying that the coalition will announce results of the August 8th 2017 presidential election according to the data they collected.

Here is NASA’s tentative schedule for Raila’s swearing in:

January 19th – Machakos People’s assembly to bring together all counties in ukambani region.

January 21st – Mombasa people’s assembly to bring together people in the Coastal regions.

January 22nd to 28th – The coalition will hold People’s assembly rallies in Kisii, Migori, Nyamira and Narok.

January 30th – Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka to be sworn in at Uhuru Park, Nairobi, where he will also name his cabinet.

The Supreme Court of Kenya made history on September 1st 2017 by declaring the August 8th presidential election invalid, null and void and ordering for a fresh election which was held on October 26th.

Raila Odinga withdrew from the repeat election, with reason that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) did not meet his coalition’s irreducible minimums.

He later revealed plans to be sworn in, which he postponed to this year.

Norman Magaya, NASA’s Chief Executive officer insisted that the swearing-in plans were underway and that the coalition’s supporters were going to witness their leaders take oath of office and name their cabinet.
