Is Railas’ single bullet still intact?

George Santayana, a Spanish philosopher once quipped, “Those who do not remember the past is doomed to repeat them.” If there is anything that haunts Raila Odingas’ yesterday, today and tomorrow, it is the fact that he still does not know how to fix himself and win an election.

Raila is gaining a reputation for throwing tantrums at every step of the electoral process. Like many politicians, he seems to have learnt little or nothing from the study of history – especially the history of why he always loses elections. Railas’ key narrative has always been that of stolen victory.

The three-time failed presidential hopeful who is having a fourth stab in this year’s elections has blamed everything and everyone other than the man looking back at him in the mirror for his past presidential election losses.

The former Prime Minister has been complaining about a dozen things in regards to how prepared IEBC is to carry out free and credible elections. He has made other wild allegations of how the elections will be rigged in favour of his competitor Uhuru Kenyatta with the assistance of the security forces, yet this is the same man with his foot soldiers boasting of garnering 10 million strong votes.

One is left to wonder then if Raila’s single bullet gun is still intact and if that is the case where is he aiming at? His recent complains don’t augur well with the electorate as he is sounding as though the system is against him and the best he can do is to lay another ground for a presidential petition. I guess Raila has already forgotten what he promised that never again will he complain of a stolen victory-Plainly put no one will buy the narrative anymore.

If Raila is the candidate of change, he should aim at the bigger price and stop side shows. Someone in his campaign trail should be candid with him to articulate issues that affect ordinary people’s lives. He is running his campaigns as he has always done expecting different results.
