Max Ehrich has dropped a bombshell about his ill-fated engagement to Demi Lovato, saying she never told him they'd split. Singer Demi, 27, and the 29-year-old actor - who popped the question to Demi after whirlwind five-month romance in July - have decided to go their separate ways this week. But it seems as though the decision was not a mutual one, as Max took to social media to set the record straight about what went down as their relationship crumbled.

Taking to his Instagram Story, The Young and The Restless star wrote: "Imagine finding out about the status of your relationship through a tabloid." In a follow-up post, he continued: "While your [sic] in the middle of filming a biopic movie about a Pastor in a Christian Church whose intention of the film is to help people." He concluded by writing "God Bless" on his last post.

News of their split became began circulating on social media earlier this week. An insider close to Demi told People: "It was a tough decision, but Demi and Max have decided to go their separate ways to focus on their respective careers. They have respect and love for one another and will always cherish the time they spent together."

Then the singer solidified the news by ditching her wedding ring during an outing. In July, former Disney star Demi shared a series of heartwarming snaps with her 88.4 million followers to announce that Max has asked her to marry him. She penned: "When I was a little girl, my birth dad always called me his 'little partner' - something that might've sounded strange without his southern cowboy like accent. To me it made perfect sense. And today that word makes perfect sense again but today I’m officially going to be someone else’s partner. @maxehrich - I knew I loved you the moment I met you."

She continued: "It was something I can’t describe to anyone who hasn't experienced it firsthand but luckily you did too. I’ve never felt so unconditionally loved by someone in my life (other than my parents) flaws and all. You never pressure me to be anything other than myself. And you make me want to be the best version of myself."

She continued to gush over her man and even mentioned the prospect of starting a family. She added: "I’m honored to accept your hand in marriage. I love you more than a caption could express but I’m ecstatic to start a family and life with you. I love you forever my baby. My partner. Here’s to our future!!!!"

Their engagement took place on a gorgeous beach, and Demi made sure to give a shout-out to the photographer who stayed hidden so he could capture the special moment. Demi concluded: "Ps. THANK YOU @angelokritikos FOR HIDING BEHIND ROCKS AND CAPTURING THE ENTIRE THING!!! I love you boo!!!"
