Reports from across several European news outlets claim AC Milan’s Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has suffered an Achilles injury while training on Monday, May 25.

The 38-year-old, who joined Milan mid-season has his contract set to expire at the end of the current campaign. However, this could be speeded up following reports of his injury, which is considered in most quarters ‘career-threatening’.

The club have not yet confirmed the extent of Ibrahimovic’s injury.

SportMediaset journalist Pietro Balzano Prota took to Twitter to break the news, saying medical tests would follow, anticipating it could be a long time out for the striker.

"Bad injury for Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Medical tests are expected but it could be a long stop." He said.

Sky Sports reports Ibrahimovic could have shattered his Achilles tendon.

Zlatan has scored four goals and provided one assist in 10 games since he re-joined Milan in January.
