He would have died - DJ Evolve's dad thanks Babu Owino for taking his son to hospital

John Orinda, the father to Felix Orinda, DJ who was shot on the neck at B-club, has come out to thank Embakasi East Member of Parliament Babu Owino for taking care of his son’s medical bills.

Mr Orinda, while speaking to K24, stated that his son is still in critical condition since he’s not been able to breathe well for the past four days.

The concerned father said that the bullet affected his son’s spinal cord, and although he was scheduled for surgery three days ago, doctors advised otherwise due to his critical condition.

“His spinal cord was badly affected. On Tuesday, January 28, he was scheduled for a surgical operation, but the doctors said he wasn’t in good shape to undergo the exercise,” said Mr Orinda.

As a result, DJ Evolve’s surgery was pushed to Tuesday, February 4.

Despite reports that Babu Owino shot his son, Mr Orinda says that he has the legislator to thank for saving Felix’s life.

“I thank Babu Owino for taking my son to Nairobi Hospital. I think he would have died had he taken him to a medical facility that has limited equipment. So far, the MP has paid Ksh800, 000 for Felix’s treatment, “said Felix’s father.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), Babu Owino was arrested on Friday, January 17, 2020, for allegedly shooting the 25-year-old DJ.

The Embasaki East MP was arraigned in court, and in his ruling, Milimani Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi directed Babu Owino to deposit Sh10 million cash bail in four equal installments of Sh2.5 million each in the next three months.

The Magistrate said that some of the money would be used to settle DJ Evolve’s medical bills.

However, on Thursday, January 30, the legislator moved to court to have his bail terms reviewed, stating that he will struggle to pay the amount.

“Despite the fact that I had voluntarily started assisting the victim in meeting the medical expenses and had pledged to voluntarily continue doing so, at no point was it to depict an admission of guilt as the Court seems to have depicted and thus the same should not be used to render high or punitive bail terms,” read the court papers presented by Babu Owino’s lawyers.
