SUMMARY

The issue of interference with witnesses was not considered. The same standards should apply in Sonko's case.

Let it not be perceived as there are some human beings who are more human than others in the ongoing Sonko scenario.

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko should be allowed to continue holding the seat because President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto set a precedent for other Kenyans.

In Kenya, a suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty. In the worse cases of crimes against humanity at the International Criminal Court in The Hague, Uhuru and Ruto maintained they would remain in office until they proved guilty.

The issue of interference with witnesses was not considered. The same standards should apply in Sonko's case.

Let it not be seen that by setting another precedent that Mkuki kwa nguruwe kwa binadamu mchungu (an arrow aimed at a pig’s flesh is sweeter but same arrow in humans is bitter or painful).

Let it not be perceived as there are some human beings who are more human than others in the ongoing Sonko scenario.

There should be no double standards. The law is double-edged sword that cuts both sides. Let Sonko remain in office as his case continues in court.
