Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST RFC) lands new shirt sponsorship (Washington Onyango, Standard)

Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST RFC) has landed a new shirt sponsorship for the 2019 - 2020 KRU Championship season.

The Kakamega based team launched their new third playing kit in partnership with Equity Bank Kenya Limited on Saturday during their championship match against Strathmore Leos.

Speaking during the launch of the white shirt, MMUST team manager Meshack Nyambane said they are glad to partner with Equity as they continue growing as a university rugby power house.

"This kit sponsorship signifies a bright future for the fast rising University team. We wish to express our sincere gratitude to Equity Bank for accepting to partner with us. As we chase for the Kenya Cup slot, we believe this partnership shall flourish," he said.

Nyambane added that they are aiming at qualifying for the 2020 Kenya Cup and urged the team to keep training hard for them to achieve that goal.

“Our dream is to make it to the top league, the Kenya Cup by the end of our second season in the championship. Last season was an eye opener and I believe with hard work we can make it," he said.

Equity's Education Banking team leader Benson Munene said they are looking forward to working with MMUST and the shirt sponsorship is just a glimpse of a bright future.

"We look forward to working together and deepening the existing relationship even further and we wish the team success in their remaining championship matches," Munene said.

MMUST will now have three playing kits for use in the championship, with the white jersey their latest addition to their traditional blue and black strips.

The unveiling was officiated by George Onyino, Equity Bank General manager – Nyanza and Western regions.

MMUST stands at position two behind league leaders Strathmore Leos as the chase for the cup heads to a Christmas break in two weeks.
