Kenyan athletes have been asked to expose unscrupulous doctors, agents, and managers behind the doping menace in the country.

Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed, Athletics Kenya President Jackson Tuwei and Anti-doping Agency of Kenya yesterday appealed to athletes not to protect doping culprits.

Amina regretted that the country’s and athletes' https://cdn.standardmedia.co.ke/images have been tainted following the increasing cases of doping.

Speaking in Eldoret as the curtains fell on this year’s annual athletes conference, Amina said the government is ready to work with athletes in an enhanced crackdown on doping.

She told elite athletes to take a leading role in inspiring their compatriots to run clean.

“The era of only holding athletes alone responsible for doping is drawing to an end, ” Amina said.

She told athletes caught up in the menace not to face charges for an offence committed jointly.

Tuwei put the responsibility on doping squarely on the athlete, and questioned why athletes who fail doping tests were willing to end their careers as key suspects in doping are not punished.
