Section of Thika Superhighway to be closed this weekend

The Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA) this week announced that a section of the Thika Superhighway will be closed this weekend (Saturday 21 and Sunday 22, 2019).

KURA stated that in a bid to improve the connection between Outer Ring-Road and Thika road at Allsops, there will be installation of beams across the Thika Superhighway on the outbound expressway.

“This means the section will be closed for traffic from 6am-6pm and motorists heading to Thika will use the service lane as directed by traffic marshals,” said KURA.

The authority also urged members of the public to use the road for the right purpose as vandalism, illegal parking, dumping and illegal businesses are threatening enjoyment of the infrastructure.

“Members of the public are urged to use it for the right purpose and warn those vandalizing public property that the law will catch up with them.

“We appreciate public cooperation, support and understanding as we strive to reduce traffic gridlock on our urban roads network,” added KURA.
