“Members of the public are urged not to buy any of the laptops having below serial numbers..."
“This matter has already been reported to the Inland Port Police Station Nairobi..."
Members of the public have been warned against buying a number of laptops that were listed in local dailies on Thursday.
An anonymous advertiser stated that the 1,140 laptops were stolen in May from the Inland Container Depot (ICD) Nairobi.
“This matter has already been reported to the Inland Port Police Station Nairobi under OB No. OB 16/22/05/2019.
“Members of the public are urged not to buy any of the laptops having below serial numbers and if they come across such a laptop, they should report to the nearest police station,” read the advert.
In May this year, President Uhuru Kenyatta made an impromptu visit to the Embakasi ICD and ordered the vetting of consolidators at the depot to weed out tax cheats.
The President said unscrupulous businesspersons were responsible for the delay in clearing goods at the facility.
His visit followed complaints by traders whose goods had been confiscated.
