Kenyans react to the alleged Nairobi School bullying incident

Kenyans on social media have weighed in on the alleged bullying incident that took place at the Nairobi School also referred to as ‘patch’.

What started as a WhatsApp conversation on how the student was attacked by a school prefect, has left a number of Kenyans calling for a proper way to deal with bullying in high schools.

According to Citizen TV, the attacked form 2 student is set to undergo a brain surgery as medical examination revealed fluid in the brain.

The Ministry of Education officials are currently holding a meeting with the schools management to determine what happened.

The Ministry of Health officials are also expected to give a statement on the issue.

Here’s what some Kenyans had to say about the incident;

The Nairobi School story is very sad. At my high school years back, I rem every form 1 was allocated a Mom (a form 3 or 4) to take care of them. I was given a nice momy, and we used to pray together before bed. I was given children to mentor too at Form 3, and I was a gud mom.— Wambeti™ (@WinWambeti) July 9, 2019

"nairobi school" incident shows the reality in our high schools.MOST high schools give prefects so much power that they use it against their fellow students and being a leader these assaults are never reported and if more punishment to the victim!!.. most dont end up well! after

The Nairobi School incident is nothing new, it all starts at home when you see your child beating another child and all you can say is “ Babaa wacha” ama “ he’s just a child, hajui kitu anafanya”. Teach your kids to respect other kids.— Rachel agunda (@agundarachel) July 9, 2019

The Nairobi school incident continues to justify why the girl child is always a step ahead of the boychild,in the current era,the boy child still embraces the primitive behaviour of bullying form ones,it is irrelevant and unethical.
In fact DCI should arrest them!
A boy is sad!

It's sad to note that bullying exist in national schools. I thought students in nation schools have a superb IQ that helps them reason and of course make the more humane! "Nairobi School"— Kwamboka (@Bee_kwamboka) July 9, 2019

Bullying is a common thing in high schools esp to the the form ones and two students. The teachers are not aware because of threats made to the students and the ones who know have ignored. This has led to low performance and low self esteem. It should be condemned

The bullying story that happened at Nairobi School was such a trigger. The schools I went to had some very bullish prefects who got a massive kick out of harassing juniors and teachers who turned a blind eye.

What is happening in Nairobi School has been there even in our days ???? I remember one time I was beaten like a baby by the Head of school and couldn’t do anything cos he has the power to influence your suspension. It should Change !!!— Bramwel Bett (@ex_virginn) July 9, 2019

The "Nairobi School" incidence is very unfortunate. I admire my highschool experience, never bullied, never traumatized, not a brain damage. Reason: I was a day schooler!! We should start thinking of dayschooling where discipline is in the hands of the parents and not prefects!
