A suspect linked to a robbery incident that left a man and his daughter dead has been charged afresh after another suspect connected to the incident was arrested.

Simon Sigei and his alleged accomplice Simon Rotich denied two counts of robbery with violence before Principal Magistrate Faith Munyi.

Sigei and Rotich allegedly robbed Peter Bore and his daughter Judy Chepkorir at Boror village, Rongai Sub-County, on the night of February 12 and 13, this year. The two used machetes, rungus and hammers to kill their victims during the robbery, the prosecution said.

“The accused persons violently robbed Peter Bore of his HP laptop, mobile phone, identity card and money all valued at Sh68,000 and in the process caused the death of Bore," said state lawyer Jacinta Kibiriu.

"They attacked and robbed Judy Chepkorir, Bore’s daughter of her laptop, gas cylinder and mobile phone valued at Sh72,500 and killed her too."

Sigei is said to have been found in possession of the stolen items including the HP laptops, a Hashi gas cylinder and identity card belonging to Bore.

Sigei similarly faces charges of defilement which he denied.

The prosecution made an application for the accused to be denied bail after they pleaded not guilty to all the charges.

The prosecutor said the ground was hostile for the accused to be freed on bond. Kibiriu added that Kirui had a history of escaping from prison and she fears he would threaten witnesses.

The court will rule on the bail application on July 7.
