The Kenyan herdsboy who was awarded by Arsenal playmaker Mesut Ozil after his photo where he wore a self-written “Ozil 10” jersey went viral, will be smiling all the way to Egypt after he received a stunning teeth whitening makeover ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations tournament in Egypt.

Sports journalist Eric Njiru took to Twitter to thank the doctor who volunteered to perform the procedure on Lawrence Masira ahead of the big event, posting pictures of the boy before, during and after the procedure.

“Saying thank you to Dr @arneddie of Lavington Green Dental Suite who volunteered to do composite masking on Lawrence Masira's (Ozil boy) teeth for free to make sure he will be smiling in Egypt at the # AFCON2019. God bless you, man!!!.” Wrote Njiru in a caption that accompanied the photos.

Masira’s fortunes have been changing for the better ever since he first hit the headlines for rocking a self-made Mesut Ozil Shirt back in February before he was spotted by Mr Njiru.

Njiru tweeted and tagged the Arsenal star who responded by sending Arsenal merchandise before thanking the journalist for making the delivery a success.

“The picture of a Kenyan boy with a self-made shirt on Twitter touched me so much. And look at Lawrence now – it’s so heartwarming to see him and his brothers happy,” Ozil tweeted.

Ozil again sent a gift hamper which included Arsenal jerseys and football boots to Lawrence and his friends.

On 7th May 2019, the German posted three photos of the young boy, Lawrence Masira, and his friends wearing new Arsenal jerseys with the label “Ozil 10” on the back.

The young boys also wore new football boots in the photos.

 “A few little presents for Lawrence's friends.” the Arsenal playmaker tweeted sharing photos of Lawrence and his friends wearing the jerseys.

The youngster’s path got brighter after money transfer brand VISA came calling.

Little Masira was appointed the Visa Players Escort Ambassador for the forthcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament scheduled for 21 June to 19 July 2019 in Egypt.

On Tuesday, May 28, Visa Kenya tweeted: “Meet the Face of Player Escort Program, Lawrence Masira.”

“I’m so happy to be going for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nation, it’s a dream come true for me. I love playing football and to have a chance to be in Egypt is just an amazing experience. I will be happy to see our Harambee Stars play against Egypt because I like watching Mohamed Salah. My other favourite player is Ozil of Arsenal,” said Masira upon receiving the good news.

Little Lawrence will be hoping to for a brighter future even after the AFCON and will be looking to emulate his hero and idol Mesut Ozil in future.?
