Kalonzo Musyoka roots for bigwigs in House

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka (pictured) has faulted the current Constitution that has kept Opposition leaders out of Parliament.

Kalonzo said that the Committee of Experts who midwifed the Constitution needed to understand the importance of keeping presidential losers in Parliament through elective seats as was the casein the old Constitution.

He made the remarks at the homecoming of the Kathiani MP Robert Mbui who is also the National Assembly deputy minority leader.

The former Vice President told Kenyans to brace for a referendum as it is likely to be a key proposal from the Building Bridges Initiative even as he supported President Uhuru Kenyatta in his war against graft

He had called for dialogue to sort out the political quagmire that faced Kenya after the elections.

Kalonzo, while quoting Mahatma Gandhi, told the meeting: “First they laugh at you. Then they fight you. Then you win,” and assured his supporters not to worry about comments from his detractors.

“Mbele iko sawa” (All is well), he said.

Kamba Nation

Leaders present at the event threw their weight behind Kalonzo, terming him as the undisputed leader of the Kamba Nation.

The MPs Makali Mulu (Kitui Central), Gideon Mulyungi (Mwingi Central), Patrick Makau (Mavoko), Charles Nguna (Mwingi West), Julius Mawathe (Embakasi South), Joshua Kimilu (Kaiti), Makueni and Machakos County MPs Rose Museo and Joyce Kasimbi, Nominated MP Sammy Seroney, as well as Nominated Senator Sylvia Kasanga, endorsed Kalonzo as the region’s political kingpin.

Majority Leaders from the three Ukambani counties of Kitui, Makueni and Machakos, as well as several Members of County Assemblies (MCAs) also declared Kalonzo as the community’s flag bearer for the 2022 presidential election.

Other leaders Mbooni MP Evanson Kivasu (New Democrats), Jubilee’s Nimrod Mbai (Kitui East), Kanu’s William Kamket (Tiaty), ODM’s Anthony Oluoch (Mathare), and the Wiper Secretary-General Judith Sijeny, also expressed their support for Kalonzo.

Makueni Governor Prof Kivutha Kibwana, who recently asked Kalonzo to retire from politics, was on spot, with several leaders dismissing him as a spoiler who stood little chance in upstaging the Wiper leader in the region.
