Passaris: I never complained Governor Sonko was not picking my calls

Nairobi woman representative Esther Passaris has rubbished last week move by Governor Sonko showing their conversation, to prove they have been engaging, saying she never complained that he never picks her calls.

Speaking at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport after arriving from Canada Passaris said: “. I do not understand what the Governor was addressing when he said that I was complaining about him not picking my calls.”

The woman rep and Governor Sonko were embroiled in a war of words during the Madaraka Day celebrations at Pumwani Police Grounds, which resulted to Governor Sonko's remarks that came under criticism from some leaders who claimed he was “disrespectful to women.”

During the celebrations, Passaris walked out of the event when Sonko said he was not his husband to pick her calls anytime she wanted.

Last week, Youth and Gender affairs CS Margaret Kobia regretted on the attacks directed to Nairobi Woman Representative, terming them worrying.

Sonko, however, took to his Facebook page to show a conversation between him and Passaris to show what he said was “ a proof he and the woman rep have been interacting well.”

In addition, while responding to Sonko’s claim that she tried to seek per diem both from the National assembly and the county government, Passaris said the county boss was spitting pure lies.

“I called the Governor, asking to attend the Women’s conference as a representative of Nairobi County. The per diem from the county did not arrive, and I kept following up with the governor. To this day, I am yet to get that per diem,” said Passaris.

Accompanied by women leaders who had gathered to welcome her at the airport, Passaris said Sonko had disrespected women and she was not going to let it go.

“Accusations and insinuations levelled against me are not true. This time I will not let it go. I shall be visiting the office of the DCI, EACC, NCIC to report the matter,” she added.

Sonko, however, speaking barely a week after the Madaraka Day incident said she was not going to apologies demanding the women rep to apologise first for him to do so.
